Polykem’s pAgriSap products are environmentally friendly. The polymer molecules are too voluminous to enter the plant root and are gradually mineralised by the action of fungi which occur naturally in the soil. The mineralisation process proceeds slowly, so PAgriSap loses only between 1 and 9% of its water retention capacity per annum when in the sub soil. Following initial application only small amounts of product must be applied each year to compensate for lost retention capacity. The product degrades rapidly at the surface under the action of UV light which catalyses a breakdown of the polymer molecules. Trace quantities of untreated monomers in the product decompose to yield carbon dioxide, nitrogen and ammonia and potassium. The reduction in fertiliser usage facilitated by PAgriSap is environmentally beneficial reducing run off and protecting the water table, rivers and aquatic life.
